This week, the Center for Innovation and Free Enterprise joined the voices of 74 additional organizations in opposing all forms of government price controls. In this letter, we addressed the dangers of the socialistic political schemes threatening American health care.
CIFE supports health care reforms that increase access, lower prices, and spark innovation. Implementing government price controls that mimic the Medicare for all approach will increase taxes, dismantle innovation, and grant the government the authority to choose medical plans for consumers.
Choice is a key – and why patients in the United States enjoy more access to better care than those in foreign countries. In the price-setting process, manufacturers lose the incentive to create life-saving cures and Americans are the ones who pay the price. Finding cures and saving lives should be our priority, not party politics.
