CIFE Opposes Most Favored Nation Executive Order

The Center for Innovation and Free Enterprise opposes the recently released Most Favored Nations Executive Order. The adoption of foreign price controls on American medicines will slow medical innovation, threaten jobs, and pave the way forward for healthcare systems like Medicare for All.

Similar to the International Pricing Index model, this Executive Order will negatively impact both the Medicare Part B and Part D programs. With CIFE Executive Director Ginevra Joyce-Myers stating Most Favored Nations “mimics previous attempts to allow more government involvement in American healthcare.”

Along with nearly 80 other free market, conservative groups, CIFE signed onto a letter to President Trump asking him to withdraw this Executive Order. We need a strong economy and vast medical innovation opportunities to combat COVID-19 and protect American patients.
